My preference is always for those rare, pure, old school boxing gyms, free of ego, and full of passion for the sport. But sometimes I include the odd boxercise place because I know that not everyone wants the nitty gritty of actual combat.

Why listen to me: I’ve been boxing as an amateur for 6 years and trained in countless boxing gyms around the world from Seattle to Spain. I’ve learnt that picking the right gym can literally change your life and want to help you do the same. Learn more about me here.

PLEASE leave your own opinions and experiences about Nashville boxing gyms in the comments at the bottom and I’ll continuously update this page to make it as useful as possible!

  • Summary: Nashville’s best authentic boxing gym.
  • Address: 4624 Kentucky Ave
  • Google rating: 4.7
  • Opening hours: M-F: 7-11am & 3-8pm, Sa: 7-11am
  • Pricing: $130 / month (unlimited classes)
  • Best for: all boxers!

Music City Boxing is the real deal. As soon as you step in you can tell that this is one of those rare places that lives and breathes boxing. It’s got that gritty vibe and is full of passionate people training proper boxing technique. It’s just how boxing gyms should be.

This is about as far from a boxercise studio with yummy-mummies as you could hope to find.

They offer a whole range of different boxing classes from “Intro to boxing” through to “Train like a pro” (be warned – not for the faint hearted!) so this is a place for people of all levels.

Their fighters regularly compete in amateur bouts so if you fancy competitive boxing in a USA Boxing sanctioned event then the team here will sort you out.

The facility itself is spacious and airy, the staff are very experienced and friendly, and they have up to 4 classes a day, 6 days a week. When there isn’t a class you can go to Open Gym and train on the bags or with anyone else who happens to be there and soak up the awesome environment.

There’s not a bad word to be said about Music City Boxing. Undoubtedly one of the best boxing gyms in Nashville. Maybe THE best.

2️⃣ Fighters Boxing Gym (formerly Boxing Resource Center)

Boxing Gyms in Nashville - Reviewed [Top 6 in 2024] - Big Right Boxing (4)
  • Summary: A pure boxing gym, welcoming to all. Highly recommended.
  • Address: 405 42nd Ave N
  • Google rating: 5.0
  • Opening hours: M: 4:30-7:30pm, T-F: 7-9am & 4:30-7:30pm, Sa: 10am-12pn
  • Pricing: $129 / month (unlimited classes)
  • Best for: passionate boxers who like to have fun
  • Online: website, Facebook, Instagram

Fighters is owned and operated by Christy Halbert, a former Team USA Olympic Olympic Boxing Coach. Christy and her top class team have built Fighters into one of the best boxing gyms in Nashville. Note that Fighters used to be known as Boxing Resource Center.

Its members praise the electric, welcoming atmosphere, the quality of the coaching, and the physical and mental benefits they have enjoyed from training here. In fact, everything is good about Fighters. They strike the perfect balance of professionalism and fun.

Like all good boxing gyms, they open their arms to anyone who wants to strap on gloves. You’ll have first-timers working out with Golden Gloves competitors, with everyone supporting one another.

There are no egos here, just a bunch of passionate people bettering themselves and mastering their craft.

Their class schedule involves a “circuit” system, rather than classes, which they say enables their coaches to give better individual attention to each student.

These circuits are 2 or 3 hour time windows throughout the day and week, when you can turn up and get training. They also offer one on one coaching if that’s what you’re after.

Fighters is an awesome boxing gym. I highly recommended trying it out if you can.

3️⃣ Club Knockout

Boxing Gyms in Nashville - Reviewed [Top 6 in 2024] - Big Right Boxing (5)
  • Summary: Top class pure boxing gym with strong values and community feel
  • Address: 1501 Nuview St
  • Google rating: 4.7
  • Opening hours: M-F: 5-7pm
  • Pricing: n.a.
  • Best for: boxers of all ages and abilities
  • Online: website, Facebook

Club Knockout is a non-profit boxing gym owned and operated by husband and wife, Robert and Kandice Crutcher. It’s been in operation for over 20 years and has become a core part of the local community.

Everyone is welcome here, ages 8-80. They offer classes for kids and adults but their strong point is probably their after-school program for kids, many of whom they train to compete in amateur fights.

This place clearly has a big heart, and they genuinely care for each and every student that joins their classes. It’s all about pure boxing here, so you know they’ll teach you the true art of the sport, and teach it well.

There’s no pressure to spar but it is encouraged that everyone tries it at least once. As coach Robert says “you may fall in love with getting punched in the face!”.

The facility itself is looks awesome. It’s large and spacious, with numerous bags, a ring, and a whole host of other training equipment.

Next time I’m in town, I’ll be heading to Club Knockout for a class. A great, humble but mighty, boxing gym in every respect.

4️⃣ Seb Boxing

Boxing Gyms in Nashville - Reviewed [Top 6 in 2024] - Big Right Boxing (6)
  • Summary: Private boxing coaching from a hugely experienced pro
  • Address: 130 Seaboard Ln
  • Google rating: 5.0
  • Opening hours: M-F: 9:30am-8pm, Sa: 9:30am-5pm
  • Pricing: n.a.
  • Best for: those wanting personal attention
  • Online: website, Instagram

Seb Boxing is about 20 minutes south of Nashville in Franklin but it’s well worth the journey.

Owned and operated by Seb Zewdie for over 30 years (!), this place has built up a long list of happy clients who have been taken to the next level, both physically and mentally, by this extremely experienced coach.

Seb has coached Olympic boxers and is a certified boxing coach for AIBA and USA Boxing. Be in no doubt that you’ll be getting guidance from someone who really knows what they are doing.

On top of that, he’s a kind and patient professional. He is the complete package for a boxing coach and has become a very popular figure as a result.

Seb Boxing focuses on personal training rather than group classes so this would be a great option for you if you’re looking to get a lot of personalized attention. And it doesn’t matter if you’re looking to train for competition or just to get in the shape of your life – Seb has got you covered.

Oh and they have an awesome motto here: “Suffer for good”! Much to like about this place. Go check it out.

5️⃣ Title Boxing Club

Boxing Gyms in Nashville - Reviewed [Top 6 in 2024] - Big Right Boxing (7)

Title Boxing Club is a great option for those looking for a high-intensity workout that combines elements of boxing with cardio and strength training.

As a nationwide franchise, Title has a reputation for providing quality facilities and knowledgeable staff, and my experience at the club definitely lived up to that expectation.

But, bear in mind that Title is more focused on exercise than on boxing technique. While you’ll definitely learn some basic boxing moves and get a good workout, you may not come out of it feeling like a pro boxer.

You certainly won’t do any sparring here. Title feels more like a fancy spinning studio than boxing gym.

The facilities at Title are always clean and well-maintained, with plenty of equipment for both boxing and general fitness workouts. The staff are always friendly, professional, and helpful. It’s members love it and Title gyms consistently get great reviews so they must be doing something right.

There are three locations for you to choose from in Nashville in Green Hills, East Nashville, and Midtown, and they offer up to 6 classes per day, open 7 days a week, so they certainly tick the box for convenience.

6️⃣ Mayweather Boxing & Fitness

Boxing Gyms in Nashville - Reviewed [Top 6 in 2024] - Big Right Boxing (8)
  • Summary: High end franchise of boxercise studios. Great for fitness, less for boxing.
  • Address: 2041 Broadway Suite C
  • Google rating: 4.8
  • Opening hours: M-F: 5:30am-7pm, Sa: 9-10am, Su: 10am-12:30pm
  • Pricing: $170 / month (unlimited classes)
  • Best for: flashy fitness fanatics
  • Online: website, Instagram

As you might have guessed by the name, this franchise of boxercise studios was founded by legendary boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. And staying true to their owner, they’re pretty flashy.

Expect lots of white decor, super food smoothies, and expensive leggings.

Despite being set up by a pro boxer, these gyms are more cardio studios rather than true boxing gyms.

Don’t expect a ton of high quality training from experienced boxers or to do much actual combat. However, you will get a great workout in a top quality facility with energetic, friendly instructors.

There are two locations in Nashville, one in Midtown and the other in Brentwood.

How to pick a Nashville boxing gym

  • Coaches– an experienced, motivating coach makes all the difference. Not just when it comes to improving your technique but also in encouraging you to keep coming back time and time again. Becoming a good boxer takes a long time and so it’s important you find a coach that you click with if this is something you want to do for many years. Reviews will often focus on coaches so try looking for those for some insights.
  • Convenience of location and class timings– this is key. My boxing gym is on the same block as my home so I have no excuse not to go almost everyday, even if I’m not feeling up to it. Finding a gym that’s close to home or work will make your life much easier and help to make going to boxing training a habit. The same applies to class timings, if you have to massively disrupt your day to get to a class because it doesn’t fit your schedule then you’re going to be less likely to go.
  • Gym focus– I don’t have a problem with boxercise classes, but make sure you know what you’re signing up for if you join one of these. Boxercise is very different than actually learning how to fight and getting sparring experience. If you truly want to learn how to box then you need to box. That involves punching other people and getting punched yourself.
  • Trial class– most boxing gyms will allow you to have a free trial class so you can get a feel for the place before you sign up. This is a great way of evaluating whether you like the coach, the energy, and the focus of the gym. Always worth asking for a free trial class if you’re not sure whether it’s offered.

How much do boxing gyms in Nashville cost? 💰

  • Monthly memberships:There’s a range here from ~$100-200 per month. Most places offer unlimited classes to their members. Be sure to check for this.
  • One-on-one personal training: Depending on the gym, costs are around $70 per hour as a minimum.
  • Drop-in boxing classes for non-members:~$15-$30 per class
  • Initiation fee:not all places make you pay one of these (and I’m not a fan of it) but those that do usually charge a one-off fee of $50-$100

12th Round 🔔

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the boxing gyms in Nashville. Sure, there aren’t tons to choose from, but with places like Music City Boxing, Fighters Boxing Gym, and Club Knockout, you’ve got some real-deal, authentic gyms to hone your skills in.

Happy fighting! 🥊🥊
