Waiver Wire Pickups: Week 13 (Fantasy Football) (2024)

Week 12 is in the books and while we had some thrilling matchups, we got more bad news on the injury front. The Cardinals and the Panthers are both on a bye, which further puts managers in a pinch trying to make their final push to the playoffs. Here are some options and waiver wire rankings to help make your decisions (hopefully) a touch easier.

The Fantasy Footballers have Treylon Burks at the top of their wide receiver list. Since coming back from injury, he has seen a minimum of six targets each game, including eight in Week 11. He turned those eight targets into seven receptions for 111 yards, fueled by a 51-yard monster play. Last week, he was able to recover a Derrick Henry fumble that turned into a touchdown. He also saw four receptions for 70 yards against the Bengals. The Titans have an uphill battle in Week 13 against the Eagles, but see more favorable WR matchups in Weeks 14 and 15. He is 68% rostered in sleeper leagues so it’s likely that he is unavailable, but it never hurts to check.

A more likely candidate available is Zay Jones of the Jaguars. He had a huge game against the Baltimore Ravens with 14 targets, 11 receptions, and a whopping 145 yards. He was also on the receiving end of a pivotal two-point conversion. Week 15 will be tough against the Cowboys, but Jacksonville will face the porous Lions and Titans in Weeks 13 and 14. Whether in trouble or not, Trevor Lawrence is looking his way to move the chains and on big plays. He is rostered in just 38% of sleeper leagues.

There is renewed energy that has been infused into the Jets with Mike White at the helm instead of Zach Wilson. White is passing all over the field and a majority of those plays are going to Garrett Wilson. However, Elijah Moore still caught both of his targets for 64 yards and a touchdown in bad weather against the Chicago Bears. He is a boom-bust option, but is only rostered in 29% of leagues and is worthy of a flex look. That is especially true in Week 15 when the Jets face the Lions.

To say the RB waiver wire is thin is an understatement. If you need a reliable running back and you are not yet past your trade deadline, that may be your best bet. If not, look for Brian Robinson or Gus Edwards. Unfortunately, they are rostered in 69% and 60% of sleeper leagues respectively so they may not be an option.

You could take a look at Zonovan Knight who saw action in place of James Robinson who was a healthy scratch. Knight had 14 attempts on the ground for 69 yards and added three receptions on three targets for 34 yards through the air. His viability is linked directly to Robinson’s future, which is waning as the weeks go by. He is not rostered in sleeper leagues at all and is a speculative add who can get you points if you’re desperate.

JaMycal Hasty is another speculative add. He filled in for Travis Etienne who left the game early with a foot injury. Although Doug Pederson said that he was able to go back into the game, they held him out to be cautious. Etienne should be good to go this week, which means Hasty will fade back into the background and be a backup.

If the RB waiver wire is thin, the TE waiver wire is nonexistent. Per usual. Your best bet is Bengals TE Hayden Hurst, but he is rostered in 67% of sleeper leagues. He was likely scooped up off the waiver wire weeks ago.

Juwan Johnson has emerged as a red zone favorite of Andy Dalton but was practically absent last week against the 49ers. Considering the game was a shutout, that’s understandable. Johnson scored a touchdown three games in a row prior to that and logged over 40 yards in each matchup. He is touchdown-dependent but has a better opportunity to see said touchdown since Dalton has been looking his way if Chris Olave is seeing double coverage.

Hunter Henry is an interesting option and has finally come back to what we have come to expect from last year, which is a boom-or-bust tight end who is touchdown-dependent. He scored a touchdown in Week 12 against the Vikings on five targets, three receptions, and 63 yards. That was a season-high in receiving yards so far this season and his second touchdown. If you’re desperate, he is only rostered in 30% of sleeper leagues so he should be readily available but hardly reliable.
