Does USC allow remote work? ›

You can login to your USC computer or access USC resources remotely in one of two primary ways. The first is with USC's VPN. By installing the VPN, you can securely access the USC network from a personal computer after installing a small application.

Remote work is a flexible working arrangement that allows employees to work outside of a traditional office location. Employees who work remotely often utilize technology to work from their homes, coworking spaces, coffee shops, or other locations outside of their company-owned office.

A remote secretary, or virtual assistant, performs the same administrative functions of an in-house receptionist or secretary, but in a remote capacity. You work from home and handle clerical tasks for an office, department, or client.

Remote work is one way UCLA advances its mission of education, research and service. While some work requires an on-campus presence, many jobs do not. For these employees, where they complete their tasks and assignments can vary.

Duration of Stay: Remote workers typically have a fixed home base and may occasionally travel for leisure or short-term work trips. Digital nomads have a more transient lifestyle, staying in each location for days, weeks, or months before moving on to the next destination.

Remote work is a work methodology that does not require employees to be physically present at an office space in order for them to accomplish their work. Employees instead use digital tools to connect to work, collaborate with colleagues and accomplish tasks remotely.

Working from home is another type of remote work, but is an option for employees who would typically work in an office environment. This style of working may offer more flexibility than remote work. For example, companies may have a policy that allows employees to work from home a few days of the week.

The good news is that now that remote jobs are on the rise, you can more easily find a side gig or even full-time role in college that works with your schedule and allows you to earn money from the comfort of your home (including dorm rooms).

However, it's important to keep in mind that approximately 65% of USC students live off campus. Off-campus housing move-in dates will vary based on the housing community, your lease, and more. Some off campus housing will offer earlier or later move-in dates depending on your needs and what they have available.

Each semester, including summer sessions, you can access hundreds of online classes in varying formats. For more than 50 years, the university has helped students access courses and programs when and where needed through distance education.

How long do you have to work at USC to get free tuition? ›

Must be full-time and eligible for this benefit (see the Tuition Assistance policy). If staff, you must have completed at least 2 years of service (if the 2-year anniversary occurs within 30 days of the start of the semester, the benefit will apply, so in some cases the wait period may be slightly less than 2 years).
