We have an acct thru Huntington and we can only withdrawl $300.00 a day at the atm. So if I need to get out my rent money after work hrs, ($700) b/c I couldn't make it to the bank before closing, I will have to pay a $50 late fee to my landlord b/c I can't withdrawl my money. Time for a New bank

There ARE “asterisks”
Huntington provides 24 hour grace to help customers avoid overdraft charges. This and their customer service are the #1 and 2 thing I like about Huntington and help me get by financially. But what good is the program if they do this for some and not for others, at any time, at their discretion, without warning?
As stated direct from Huntington: “If the bank allows you to overdraw your account you could incur overdraft fees, but 24-Hour Grace® gives you time to cover overdrawn amounts if you need it. *****Keep in mind it's still at the bank's discretion to decide not to overdraw your account and you could still receive a return fee if the transaction is returned.”*****
So you may or may not be covered at any time, without warning. Or maybe it was next to the non-existent asterisk? I’ve been a customer for 8 years, standing in excellent credit. I never had a problem with Huntington before they did this to me.

I've had this account for years and quite like it. The overdraft protection is amazing, as my family lives paycheck to paycheck and it happens. The extra bit of grace allowing us to pay things on time is fantastic.
Lack of fees is also a huge pro. I had a baby recently and am off work, and my husband has since opened his own account. I don't get fees even if my account has little to no activity for weeks or months (I also have a secondary account here, which has never had fees).
They have fantastic customer service too. I've had some fees waived, like when my account was fraudulently overdrafted, and they work with you to pay back anything you owe. Husband had an account closed after it was negative when he was younger, the bank worked with him so that he could pay it off promptly even though each payment had to be very small.

I think my Huntington Asterisk-Free Checking account is great. Huntington has great customer service. I really appreciate that you can accidentally overdraft and have a grace period of a whole business day before they charge for the overdraft, that way you have time to transfer money and correct it. Their online banking is convenient and easy to use. They seem to be very proactive about security breeches and that sort of thing because I receive new debit cards at least twice a year. I have had my account for 3 years and am very satisfied.

I've had a free checking account with Huntington for 13 years. I believe it started as a student account, but was converted to Asterisk Free when they changed. I've always been extremely happy and have never had to pay any fees, even though I generally carry a very low balance and don't do many transactions or have direct deposit. Recently my husband accidentally paid a large bill from that account instead of our joint account and overdrew it by nearly $1500. Huntington happily reversed the overdraft fee after I called and explained the situation. Wonderful customer service!

Huntington has always been a good bank for me and their checking account option is no exception. Great customer service, zero fees (So many of them want to nickle and dime you now) make for a perfect, no hassle experience. There is an overdraft fee but that's pretty standard and shouldn't be an issue if you're watching your account.
Get this checking account, you won't regret it.

I recently had an issue with a third party having trouble doing a bill-pay from this checking account. Once I got in touch with my local branch, they were quickly able to work with the third party to correct the error. They even assisted me with getting a late fee refunded to me. All-in-all, great service, and I've never had any problems with my checking account.

Recently I had an issue with someone using my debit card number without authorization. When I went to pay for gas my card was declined and before I could even call my local branch, I was contacted by a Huntington service agent asking questions about recent purchases. She said that she was concerned because I had been using my card in Ohio on Monday and then in Maine on Tuesday morning, the day I was then trying to use it in Ohio. We both realized that my account had been compromised and I was told that I may have to wait a week for my funds to be redirected back to my account. After talking with her for a while she took the time to rush things through and by the end of the day I had my funds back into my account and a new account number just in case. I am very thankful that this bank treats their customers like people and not just a number. Thank you.

I had a Huntington National Bank Free Checking account with them a few years back and I was very satisfied. There are no monthly maintenance fees or minimum balance fees or paper statement fees, or any of that nonsense that a lot of other banks try to pull on you. There is a overdraft charge but as long as you're up and up on your finances that shouldn't be a problem. I really can't say anything bad about them. Pretty good bank if you're in the area.

I had a checking account with The Huntington National Bank a few years ago and I didn't have too many problems with them. There's no monthly fees or anything like that. My main issue came down to my own negligence. I allowed my account to go into overdraft by mistake and were promptly swamped with overdraft fees and negative account balance fees. I was so frustrated with customer service, after having paid off the fees that I just decided to look for another bank account. The account itself was fine, just make sure you don't go overdraft or you will be looking at $100+ in overdraft fees unless you catch it quick.

I love my account with Huntington Bank. The Asterisk-Free checking is great. No fees, and I love the 24 hour overdraft protection. It is very helpful in case I get in a little trouble with balancing my books. Their internet system is fantastic, but so are the people that work in my local branch office. I had an issue with a security breech with my debit card, and they handled it so quickly and without any problems. Would recommend to anyone.
