By Tabie Germain
June 29, 2022 / 8:53 PM
Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Faith Evans took the stage at the BET Awards 2022 hosted by Taraji P. Henson for a powerful performance of “Every Step I Take” alongside “Lifetime Achievement” recipient Sean “Diddy” Combs and members of gospel singing group Maverick City Music as part of a heartfelt tribute to the Bad Boy Records’ ex-girlfriend Kim Porter during his musical celebration honoring his career and legacy. In honor of Evans’ fantastic performance, we’re looking back at some of her most significant and memorable hits with a list of her essential records. Check it out below.
“Love Like This”
No party playlist is complete without Faith’s classic 1998 “Love Like This” from her second studio album Keep the Faith. The track, which features a looped sample of Chic’s 1978 single “Chic Cheer,” became one of the singer’s biggest records to date, peaking at number 2 on the Hot R&B Singles & Tracks chart and number 7 on Billboard’s Hot 100.

“Can’t Believe” feat. Carl Thomas
BET Awards 2022 Humanitarian honoree Sean “Diddy” Combs teamed up with singer-songwriter Mario Winans to write and produce this classic 2001 ballad “Can’t Believe,” for Faith featuring fellow Bad Boy label-mate Carl Thomas. The single, which samples The Firm’s ”Phone Tap,” was featured on Faith’s third studio album Faithfully, but it also makes an appearance on Diddy’s Bad Boy compilation album The Saga Continues.
“I Love You”
“I Love You” is a contemporary r&b ballad that samples Isaac Hayers’ 1976 record "Make a Little Love to Me.” It was released as the second single from Faith’s 2001 studio album Faithfully. The song peaked at number fourteen on the US Billboard’s Hot 100 and at number two on the US Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.
“Soon As I Get Home”
“Soon As I Get Home” was penned by Faith and Diddy for the singer’s 1995 debut studio album Faith. The track peaked at number 3 on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and ultimately went gold.
“You Gets No Love” feat. Diddy & Loon
Co-written by Faith and several other industry veterans including 702’s Kameelah Williams, and Chauncey Hawkins, better known as featured rapper Loon, “You Gets No Love” is an uptempo dance track from the singer’s third album Faithfully. The singer’s vocal ability takes center stage in the groovy dance tune.
